Re: Divorce
We are in the midst of a very dangerous and costly increase in people who are not attorneys representing themselves in Dissolution of Marriage cases. There are numerous internet sites that provide "legal advice" although they are not attorneys, and also provide forms to fill out, some of which are not correct. Many courts are providing "pro se" forms for people to fill in the blanks, but the clerks can not provide legal advice, and many people do not understand either the substantive law involved or the legal process itself. We are constantly getting questions from people who have completed the forms and want to know what to do next. Many people who go through the process without an attorney will be hiring attorneys to fix the problems that are certain to arise, and they will be paying much more than they would have if they hired an attorney in the first place. You have children. Not only your legal rights, but your children's legal rights are involved in a Dissolution of Marriage. Surely these things are important enough to you to justify the need to hire an attorney. Please take my advice and do so.
