Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My divorce was final over 3 years ago. My ex was to pay for certain debts and give me a settlement. He has never paid the settlement money, And now I have had to go to court for the debt he was to pay. The Judge told me that I needed to hire an attorney,even though I had all my paper work showing he is to pay the debt. I haven't went after the money he owes me, because I can't afford to hire an attorney. Isn't one Missouri court suppose to uphold another Missouri courts Judgement?

Am only guessing, but the debt may need to be reduced to a specific amount. Do call and attorney to talk about the situation. You may find out that you can afford to do this.
