Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
I am going through a divorce in Missouri. My soon to be ex husband has called Division of Family Services on me and the police saying I am abusing our daughter. All reports have come back as unsubstantiated and harrassment. I have meet someone and my ex has made alligations against him as well. There is a GAL appointed and my ex's attorney requested that my friends background be checked. I have passed drug tests, DFS and the police so I feel that this is an invasion of privacy and my ex is only doing this to make me mad. My friend and I decided that we were not going to provide the information. Will this hurt my case?

If your "friend" is going to spend a significant amount of time around your children, you want him to provide some basic information to curtail any chance of something coming up later. Hve your attorney get abackground check done on him. If you feel that there is nothing of alarm, then you have little risk of not voluntarily providing information about him to the other side. If there is something of concern in his background, then it could hurt you later, if you refuse to provide information and DFS or the other side discovers it later. Consult with you attorney before deciding what to do.
