Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Divorce in Missouri
My mom lives in the state of Missouri and her husband has left her and wants a divorce. He has taken the credit cards and all the savings and she is left in the house which he wants her to leave and keep for himself. They have a home and other vehicles. She is left with no choice but to make an appointment with an attorney to see what her rights are. My mom is also on disability, which leaves her with only that little income check per month and can not survive on her own.
Where do I help her start?

Tell her to look for an attorney in Missouri who is willing to give a free consultation who can tell her what her rights are. The laws vary from state to state.

Your Mother is fortunate to have you around to help her. She obviously needs legal representation. Most attorneys in the greater ST. Louis metropolitan area will require a retainer fee to be paid up front in an amount anywhere from $1500 upwards depending upon the circumstances, and will bill anywhere from $150 per hour upwards. There will be other costs involved that you Mother will need to pay as well. What you can do to help her is to hire her the best attorney you can afford as soon as possible.
