Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Not yet divorced want to buy home

I was married 5/99 and we seperated in 6/99, not legally seperated, we have not seen or spoken to each other since the split and I will be filing for divorce in early 07. I am wanting to but my own home but am worried that he may be able to get something out of it. Is it a bad idea to purchase a home before the divorce.
