Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Do it your self Examination - Questions to ask
All the paper work has been filed. I went to court yesterday and wasnt fully prepared. I thought the Judge would ask the questions and I would answer them. I submitted the Financial Statements and Settlement papers into evidence. Then I stated things like the marriage is irretrievably broken, the personal property has been divided as stated in the Settlement, assets, debts, living arrangements and stuff like that. But that wasnt enough. He would give us a hint of what we needed to say either. So I had to get a new court date to come back and finish up. My next date is Oct 1, 2002. I would greatly appreciate if someone could supply me with the necessary questions/statements I need to state in front of him.

What you experienced in court is to be expected. If you were able to be your own doctor but didn't know how to perform the surgery you needed, what do you think would happen? It is not the judge's job to tell people who do not hire lawyers how to practice law. It is not he clerk's duty either. I do not know why in the world you are even trying to do your own divorce. If you are able to get through the hearing, it is an almost sure bet that something important will be left undone or will be done incorrectly causing a great deal of trouble and expense in the future. There is absolutely no doubt that you should hire an attorney to represent you in the divorce. for your own sake and everyone elses, please do so.
