Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Can a Father be forced to honor visitation?
I have been complying with pre-court and court decreed visitation since my daughters birth. Over the last few years it has become increasingly difficult for my daughter as well as myself to continue with the visitation. Can I be forced to continue with the visitation schedule set forth by the court and agreed upon by both parties? Or can I choose that this is not in the best interest of my daughter or myself and discontinue the visitation until she is old enough to decide she wants to visit?

Re: Can a Father be forced to honor visitation?
In order to provide you with legal advice it would be absolutely necessary to review the existing Court Orders. However, generally, where the mother has been granted custody of the child and the father has been granted "visitation", the father's "visitation" is a legal right and not a legal duty, which means that you can not be compelled to exercise your right to visitation. Your own particular situation might be different depending upon the Court Orders in effect.
