Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

No Fault Divorce

Married 4 years. No kids, no property, no savings... I (wife) want a divorce for many reasons. Been sleeping on couch for over a year. He states that he does not want a divorce and will contest and drag out the process.

My questions are..

1. If I file, can he stop the divorce or drag out the process?

2. How long does a no fault in St Louis take?

3. How much can I expect to pay an attorney to handle this?

4. How long should it take if husband fights the divorce?

5. Is there a separation period in MO?

Thanks

Re: No Fault Divorce

1. If you file for divorce and your husband refuses to admit that the marriage is irretrievably broken, then the Court will grant a legal Separation and give you a date to return to Court. If the marriage has been saved, the case willbe dropped. If not, then the Court will grant the divorce. 2. If everyone agrees upon everything, a divorce can be accomplished in six to eight weeks. If not, it can take much longer. 3. Most attorneys will require a retainer fee of from $1500 to $2500 plus the filing fee. 4. See answer to numbwer 2. 5. No.
