Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
my friend was just killed he has a 2 year old son that lived with him. he lived in Missouri. his sons mother lives in California. she wants her son but there is a paper she signed saying that the father had custody of the son until he saw fit for her to have him back. it was notarized. the fathers brother who lives in Missouri has him right now. is there any way that the brother or grandmother could get custody of the son. the mother is a druggie and hasn't seen him in awhile? please help me because there family is going through so much they need all the help they can get

Yes, there is a statute in Missouri which provides authority for a Court to award custody of a minor child to a third party in certain situations where the natural parents are unable or unwilling to care for the child.
