Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
My girlfriend is in my daughters' lives
I have been divorced for 6 years. I share joint legal custody of 3 daughters, with my ex having primary physical custody. Recently she learned of a woman I'm dating who has met my children . My ex is adamant about learning all the information she can about her, and even wishes to ''interview'' her so as to get to know her better. Am I compelled to do anything in this case?

Re: My girlfriend is in my daughters' lives
Your ex does not have any legal right to "interview" your girlfriend. If it would make life easier for everyone, including your children, you should consider meeting together at a public place with people around and give your ex an opportunity to get to know the girlfriend. If your ex misbehaves, you can leave. If there is some reason that you don't want to meet, then don't. If your ex feels that she has a valid concern for the welfare of yor children, she can go to an attorney for advice and they may wind up using the court system. Still, you are divorced and free to choose who you associate with free of any control by your ex. Of course if the girlfriend is somehow harmful to the children then the terms of your divorce decree might be modified so as to protect the children. I hope that this response has been helpful for you.
