Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I need to see about getting guardianship for my father who had dementia. He was recently diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. There is some bad blood forming between my fathers family and his wife, not our mother. I live in California but my father is a resident of Newton County Missouri

You may need to temporarily move to Newton County, or find someone to act as the local resident agent, in order to be appointed. I suggest you contact a private practice attorney, in that area. The wife would be the natural choice, You can find such attorneys through the Missouri Bar Association Or, you could go on Missouri's Casenet system to find names of attorneys that appear on probate cases there.
