Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

guardinship over adult

I have a son that is over the age of 18 who is mentally unstable who is getting into serious trouble and is in need of my assistance as a mother. I would like to obtain a mental power of attorney over my son to handle his affairs. With Missouri law, it is difficult for me to maintain a stable home, to which he lives, with all of the difficulties that he has gotten into recently. My problem is my child does not understanding that he will need to be cared to for the rest of his life. The law is the law, yet my son is mentally incapable of understanding the law and the danger that he is facing as an adult. I need you to advise me as to how to handle this situation.

Please advise, as you are my last resource. Thank you for a concerned mother.

Regards,
