Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Husband and I have custody of his daughters (my step daughters). They were in his mothers care for 6 months prior. Since we got them, his mother refuses to hand over all their info, such as SS#'s, birth certificates, doc records. Is there any legal way we can get this info from her so these children can be cared for. Without these documents, we cant get child support from the mother, get medical aid and insurance for them, get the 4 year old into head start, or even daycare. Which I was forced to quit my job because no daycare will take them without current check-ups. What can we do?

Social security numbers, birth certificates and many other documents are readily available to the children's father through the appropriate agency offices. If he knows wherfe the children received health care, he can contact those providers for the children's records. All of this assumes that he is the legal father of the children, and that there is no court order that would require some different results. Why would his mother refuse to give him info on his children in the first place?
