Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My husband and I are legally separated and have been since Dec 2010. He is now filing for divorce, I understand I have no say in the matter. If I sign the paper vs going to court, can I still go back and get more money for child support and/or maintenance later? I know he makes more money. I'd prefer to wait to ask for more money for another month or so. But can I wait or do I need to do it before signing? Is waiting or not waiting going to effect the results?
