Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My husband passed away in December and due to some emotions I have stepped back from his family. We have 2 son's that I am not allowing certain family members to have contact with them. His sister is telling me that she is going to fight for visitation rights. They are not emotionally stable and I have concerns about the boys being around them. Is there a law in Missouri that would allow extended family members to have these rights?

I am sorry for your loss. I believe that the grandparents may have the right to seek some court order concerning visitation with the children if you refuse them contact for a certain length of time (possibly 90 days). I do not believe that your husband's siblings have any such rights. I would need to conduct legal research to be able to provide a competent response based upon the current law, but, generally speaking, from memory, this was the state of the law in the past.

If you need a definite answer, you might want to take a consultaton with an attorney and perhaps even pay a modest amount of attorney's fees in order to get a definitive answer. Good luck.
