Your husband's criminal background might hinder or prevent the adoption you wish. It depends upon how long ago the convictiosn were, and what they are for. Theft comvictions from twenty years ago are viewed differently than child abuse charges brought last year. Obviously, you will need to the consent of the biological father(s), or an Order teminating theri parental rights. If you are recieving support from the father(s) the adoption probably won't happen without their consent. No matter where you are getting the support (fathers or state) it will likely end with the adoption. Adoptive father usaully ahe to show that they can suppor the child in order to get approved. Go see a family law attorney in your area. Let them ask questions and see the birth certificates and husband's criminal record. They may be able to tell you if success is likely.

Good luck
