Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Can my husband's family keep me from seeing my son? My father-in-law refuses to pick me up after the summer semester is over because his "house is too small, too hot, and not enough food". There's 6 people in a 2 bedroom house, it's 120 degrees, and his dad is too broke to feed me, or so he says. He just had another college age son move in with him. My son lives in this crowded house and this isn't the first time they have refused to come pick me up. I would prefer to rent a car this break between semesters, drop out of college, get my son, buy a bus ticket, go back to NY where all my fmaily lives, and send him divorce papers. He doesn't respect me, my needs, and his family treats me like shit, and they obviously can't care for my son properly in an overcrowded home.

Generally, grandparents may not prevent a parent from seeing a child. But, there seems to be no legal duty for a grandparent to pick up a parent from School to go see their child. You may be able to go to NY with your chidl and file for divorce. You would likely get at least temporary custody. You will need to get a NY licensed attorney to advise you as to NY law. But, in Missouri the parent that has the child when divorce is filed, gets temporary custody until the first hearing.
