Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Interest on debt divided in divorce

When we were divorced in 2006, my ex-husband agreed to pay half of a particular credit card debt, which was already in arrears. In the three years since, I have approached him twice about repaying his half of the debt, but he has not complied. the debt has now accrued interest that exceeds the principal, and he refuses to take responsibility for the interest. The credit card was in my name, so the company has a court judgement against me for the full amount of the debt and I am currently paying over $200 a month toward it.

My ex now says that he will "look into" paying off his half of the original debt, but that he is not responsible for any of the interest. Is this true? Is he only responsible for half of the amount specified in the divorce?

You might consider filing for an enforcement of the judgment in order to establish the exact amount he owes along with any penalties and accrued interest and attorney's fees that may be available.
