I have joint legal custody with my ex. I am the primary custodian. I want to move out of state for a great job opportunity. What can I do?

I would advise you to comply with the Relocation statute under which you must send the other parent a letter by certified mail advising that parent of several different items. The other parent then will have a period of time within which to file an objection with the court that entered the custody order, and either things will be worked out or you will be entitled to a trial to see whether you are allowed by the court to relocate with the children. I would strongly suggest consulting with an attonrney for moe specific advice. If you move without complying with the statute, the law provides that a court may take that into consideration if the other parent then tries to get the custody order changed. Good luck.
