Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My kids were given my last name at birth. The father was given the right to change it to his name so he did, but only on the birth certificate, not the ssnumber. do I change everything to match his name?

Yes, or the kids may have trouble getting benefits, not to mention a job, later in life.
