Re: legal guardianship of grandchild

Although you may pursue a guardianship, you might be better off seeking a court order transferring the legal custody of the child to you subject to visitation rights to be enjoyed by the parents. You might also get child support from them. You would need to hire an attorney and the legal proceedings can be somewhat expensive, but if you are really concerned about the baby's well being, it might be worth it. Or, you could always get the state social services people involved, but I would strongly advise against that fora variety of reasons. You may feel free to telephone me at my office if you would like to arrange a consultation.
