Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Legal Right as a non custodial parent

I need to know what rights I have as a non custodial parent. I live in Arkansas and my son lives in Kansas City, MO. I have never established any formal legal custodial rights, however, I have paid child support on a monthly basis. My son's mother and I were never married, so there was no divorce in which to include parental rights. I have been allowed to keep my son a regular basis, but the conditions in which I have been allowed to spend time with my son have always been on his mothers terms. She never meets me half way when I go to pick him up or take him back. Also now that he is old enough (2 1/2) to spend the summer with me she won't allow it.

I am married and have a secure job and am an upright citizen. Who can I turn to for help with this matter?

Re: Legal Right as a non custodial parent

Legal counsel! Contact an attorney; the area of Domestic Law is specialized sufficiently that counsel will focus on your receipt of credit for child support paid as well as address future visitation and custody. You don't want to be assessed back child support. . .and you may have to prove you've paid it since it has not been submitted thru the court system. My advise: don't attempt to do this yourself if you are not an attorney.
