Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

i live in jackson county missouri. i am 8 months pregnant, the father and i were not married and only together a few short months.. i was gonna go fill out papers for custody and child support as soon as baby is born because he was upset that i didnt wanna be with him any more and he said he thought if he got me pregnant then we would be closer together and id marry him. since that did not happen, he sent me threatning text messages and i feel that if i let him take the baby from my home without papers stating so, not sure if or when he would bring her back. i want to allow him to see the baby so i wanted to get visitation set up for him when going for the custody.. he said if i went to the judge it would only last a few months... i wanted to allow him at the hospital but without him having a bracelet and was gonna let him sign birth certificate but a friend told me i should not. i dont want to do something to make me look like im trying to keep him from her just want to make sure he dosnt take her and i dont get her back.... ???????

If you wish to get enforceable child support, it might make it easithe birth certificate. That will entail him being at the hospital. Once paternity is established (such as having him on the birth certificate) either one of you can petition the Court for custody and visitation. If it appears fyi the Court that you're playing games with the fathers time, he might get custody and you would have visitation and pay child support to him. When you deliver, tell the hospital that you're single and concerned that the Dad will take the baby. They'll help for the short time you're there. Then Petition the Court for an Order of custody and visitation. Until them, either parent can keep the child, and it would not be kidnapping fir him to keep her.

Good luck
