Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I live in Missouri and my ex wants to claim our son on his taxes. He lives with me 257 days/year and the father pays support at will and none of doctor bills, but provides insurance. We were not married and there are no legal documents. Can he claim him legally?

If he is not the legal father of the child I do not know how he can claim the child on his taxes.
