Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I live in Missouri; my son is in jail in Tennessee (he will get out October 8, 2010). My question is: Do I have to have legal guardianship or temporary custody of my young granddaughter in order to put her in school here in Missouri until my son gets out of jail and returns to Tennessee?

Contact the school to see exactly what they will require. In some cases they may require a simple Power of Attorney for school purposes that can be prepared by an attorney and signed by your son if he has access to a notary at his facility.
