Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Locked Out Of House

We are married but separated, not by my choice. She has changed the locks. I have never received legal separation or divorce papers. Am I allowed in the house and a key?

Re: Locked Out Of House

Who owns the house? Or, if you do not own, who is on the lease? Is there any restraining order against you? Depending upon the circumstances and your answers to these questions, you may have every legal right to enter the home. In many cases someone in your situation can simply call a locksmith, enter the home, and change the locks yourself. In other cases doing this might make the situation much worse than it already is. You definitely need to consult with an attorney immediately. Good luck.
