How long must the petitioner wait to request a court date after filing a motion for contempt?

When I file a Motion for Contempt, I also file a Show Cause Order which the Judge signs ordering th other party to appear in court on a date certain to show why that party should not be held in contempt. If you are trying to do this yourself, without an attorney, I would strongly advise you to hier an attorney to represent you.
