Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Im lost. My husband and i have two girls together, a 3 yr old and a 9 mnth old, and i have a 6 yr old son who has known my husband as his father since he was one yrs old. well, a few months ago my husband and i got into a fight and he called the police on me and said i was beating him up. (which was totally false). Then a couple days later he got a restraining order against me based on the police report. My son was at school at the time so when i picked him up and came home he and i found out we were put out on the street. My husband did alot of nasty things that i wont get into over a weeks time, but, after a week he ended up alling me and asking me to come home (With the restraining order still in place) I went home because i hadnt seen my girls in a week, but, we ened up trying to work things out out. Now he's acting strange again. He said he wants to seperate but promises to keep it civil this time. I just can't trust him. What should i do now to protect me and my children?
