Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
medical payment received
Wife left leaving me with daughter. Married 20 years. Had a major wreck, with major back surgery$70,000 dollors. Filed for bankruptcy no leave no pay. Asked wife of 47 years old, i am 61, to go find a job for 3 months. She refused to do this but waited until i got out of hospital to leave. I had a sipplemental insurance policy that she knew of about 8,000 dollors. She did not want to live with a cripple she said 3 fused disk. No she calls from her mothers wanting her half. Where she lives she has no bills , while the daughter and i are flat broke trying to survive. When she left she came with a 28 ft truck with two guys and took most of prperty all of food ,yes food, and all the money.I am flat on my back in bed and could do nothing. Will the court give her half of insurance money.

Re: medical payment received
If you are adequately represented in the divorce proceedings, it seems unlikely that your wife would get one-half othe insurance money. In fact, the court may require her to get a job in order to pay child support and perhaps even maintenance.
If you are not already represented by legal counsel, you should certainly hire the most agressive attorney you can afford. Personally, I have handled hundreds of divorce cases, and I would be willing to speak with you. However, my hourly rate is $150.00 and I require a $2500.00 retainer fee up front. Under the circumstances, you may be compelled to seek the assistance of an attorney who can charge you more modest fees.
