Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Minor Name Change

My husband & I filed a petition to change his daughters last name to his...with an application for next of friend...the court then sent us the papers in the mail stating we need an order of next of friend to continue with name change, on the petition to change name... it is stated with my husband being his daughters next of friend...so right now we just have a motion for next of friend...& a petition to change name...how do we get an actual order appointing him as next of friend....????

I presume that you are attempting to do this without hiring an attorney. If so, what you are experiencing seems to be a pretty good lesson on why people should hire attorneys to take care of legal matters. I have done numerous name changes for minors and I had to learn how to do it the first time too. If you are not going to hire an attorney, I wish you the best of luck at figuring everything you need to do out.
