Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

missouri default divorce judgment

A court in missouri handed down a default divorce judgment in my favor due to the attorney and his client not making 2 court dates. Now, my wife is appealing. Her original attorney has withdrawn his representation and she now has an appeals attorney. Any suggestions on what I should do? Maybe get an appeals attorney instead of my current counsel?

If your current attorney does not have appellate experience, he/she needs to co-counsel with someone to do the appeal. There are specific issues the appellate judges look for and you need to write the briefs a certain way. If your current attorney does not want to co-counsel if there is no appellate experience, you might want to consider hiring an attorney with appellate experience for the appeal. Good luck.
