Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
This is in Missouri (NOT KC or St Louis)
My children's paternal grandmother has had guardianship of my children for 3 yrs. I am now clean and in college and have a pt job and want to petition for termination of guardianship. She is getting TANF and FS. The small county court where she lives said I HAD to have a lawyer. The Guardian Ad Litem said I HAD to have a lawyer. I do not live in the same county. Paternal Grandma wants to "give the kids" to me for the summer along with her benefit card. My parents (whom I live with) say something is fishy.. and they won't allow them to come without a court order giving them back. I cannot afford an attorney, I was denied Legal Aid based on my Dad's income. That doesn't seem fair as they paid $$$$ 3 yrs ago to get visitation. I am afraid to say yes as I think P Grandma is up to something fishy, (which is in her nature)
2 Questions.
Can I file for termination of guardianship without an attorney?
Can I file for it in MY county (her county is 2.5 hrs away) if my parents allow then to come?
They are willing to pay for their needs (groceries utilities etc) etc they just don't trust her which is why they want the court order giving them back to me

No, because you agree and are not divorced, there is no need.
Sorry, I answered the wrong question. Your answer is You have to file where the guardianship was entered. You can do it on your own but you would be making a mistake to do that.
