Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

missouri property

i am going through a divorce from my wife.she has moved to florida.i bought a house in my name 7 years before we got married.it is in my name.she filed for divorce in florida.i have been told that a florida court could not rule on missouri property.is this true?we have not done any improvements to the house.

I am not licensed to practice in Florida and offer no opinion as to what the Florida law might be. Perhaps you should consult with a Florida lawyer. Generally speaking, if you were married here, lived here, and have not submitted yourself to personal jurisdiction in the Florida Court then the Floriday Court can grant your wife a Dissolution of Marriage, but usually can not divide marital property in Missouri. If you do submit to the jurisdiction of that court, then any Order entered in Florida may be subsequently registered her in Missouri and acted upon.
