Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

modification of custody

The state has taken legal custody of my daughter from her mother and has given me ( the father) physical custody. I want to file for full custody but can I file a modification of custody if the Juvenile courts have jurisdiction?

Re: modification of custody

You do not mention if the mother was awarded legal custody of the child in a dissolution of marriage, or if there was a custody Order entered by a Court in a Paternity Suit, or if you are the legal faher by way of an affidavit of paternity, or whatever is the basis for the "state" placing physical custody with you. You need to make an appointment with an attorney and provide all of the relevant details so that the attorney can advise you on the law and on your options. If you do not have an attorney, you may call me for a consultation.
