Do I need a lawyer to modify the terms of an existing parenting plan or will the court accept it if I do it myself?

Re: Modify Parent Plan
You have an absolute right to represent yourself in a Court of law. Whether you will be able to know the law applicable to your situation, draft appropriate and correctly done pleadings, follow all of the legal process and civil procedure required to be followed, and prosecute your modification sucessfully through the legal system so that the Judge grants you the relief you seek by signing an Order that will be enforceable at law, these are just some of the questions that we can not answer in this forum. I advise people to hire an attorney to provide legal services when people have a need for legal services. I believe in paying a plumber when I have a plumbing problem. I pay an auto mechanic to repair my automobile. Naturally, I don't like paying other people to do something that I can do myself, but in many cases that is exactly the smartest thing I can do. Many people are representing themselves in court these days. Perhaps most lawyers are just too expensive, or perhaps the economy has made things so hard for many people that they feel as if they have no choice. Your question concerns modifying an existing Judgment that incorporates the terms of your Parenting Plan. This is an area of law that I deal with almost everyday, and have dealt with for over thirty years. I believe that I have some understanding, and a great deal of compassion for anyone in your situation, but in the end, I would definitely advise you to hire an attorney
