Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Can one parent tell another parent who she can or cannot be with, in a relationship? The girl in trying to be with is in a custody battle with her Childs father and he says she can't be with me because I have a felony on my record. Is he legally allowed to keep her son from her because of who she is in love with?

An exspouse cannot dictate to the other who they shall associate with. But, if one associates with a felon, that fact can be argued to a judge in regard to custody and visitation. You did not indicate of what felony you were convicted. If it involves children, violence or drugs, it may be used by her ex to require you not be present during visits, or that he retain primary custody. It doesn't always carry the day, especiallly if the conviction was many years ago. But, most judges will at least consider it.

Good luck
