Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Paternity Testing
My boyfriend has been told he is the supposed father by an X-fling, he has payed her some money but not court ordered. He would like to get a DNA test done. But how is this possible if the Mother doesn't want to participate?

Re: Paternity Testing
Your boyfriend should hire an attorney to file a lawsuit seeking a judicial determination of paternity. Afer the mother of the child is served with the Petition and summons, she can be Ordered by the Court to undergo DNA testing. This process will cost your boyfriend some money in court costs, attorney's fees and the costs of the DNA tests (some of which costs the mother should share), but everything considered, he needs to know whether he is the father or not. If he is, he will probably want to exercise his rights as a father, and he will probably want to be a part of the child's life. Your boyfriend might even get joint custody if he is determined to be the father. On the other hand, if he is not the father, he will save an enormous amount of money by not having to pay any child support or other expenses involved in raising a child. You or your boyfriend may call me for a consultation. I have handled many of these cases. BUT, beware of attorneys who use this site only to solicit new clients!
