Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Can a person (my aunt), be locked up, Put into a mental facility, by other family members, such as her brother and/or sister. They keep threatening her, saying they will have her committed for doing drugs. She has been taking Xanax, for several years (over 20). Now they are suddenly threatening to have her committed.

Can this be done?

Or are they just full of hot air?

In Missouri, a person with capacity to decide, cannot be admiited to a long term care withoiut her permission. However, they may be able to seek to be named yoru aunt's gaurdian and conservator by the probate court in the county where she lives. If so appointed, they could admit her to a care facility.
