Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
I am pregnant by one of two guys. One of them wants nothing to do with me or my unborn baby. But the other guy is threating to force me to have a DNA test done on the baby after it is born. I DO NOT want him in my childs life or mine. I found out after the fact that he already has 5 kids and only supports 1. I told him it is the other guys baby in hopes he would leave me alone. The baby will have my last name not his. Would he have any rights to or could force any tests to find out if he is the father. I want nothing from him other than to be left alone.

It is hard to understand how a young woman could allow herself to become pregnant by someone she knows as little as you appear to have known about this man. he certianly has the right to have a court determine whether or not he is the biological father, and if he is he will certainly have legal rights concerning his child. The court can and will order DNA testing. The court may also award custody rights, both legal and physical, to the father. He may also persuade the court that it would be in the child's best interest for the child to have the father's last name. I would suggest that you pause to consider the best interests of your child. How can you simply decide to forego child support, and more importantly cut the child's father out of the child's life? Educate yourself about the effects of growing up fatherless, and do the right thing for your baby.
