Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Quit Claim Deeds

In going through a divorce in Missouri, if two residential homes are owned, if quit claim deeds are signed saying each spouse is to get one property each, does it end there, or is it still a part of the divorce settlement until the judge rules?

Re: Quit Claim Deeds

Without knowing additional facts it is impossible to give a definite answer to your question. However, in most cases, I believe that technically the rights and duties of the parties will only be defined by the Judgement in the Divorce. In all likelihood, the Judge will approve what the parties have already done, but there may be other Orders of an "equalizing" nature that the Judge deems necessary. If you are one of these parties, and you have an attorney, you should be asking your own attorney these questions.
