can my name be removed as co signer on ex husband car

my husband and i have an no contest divorce free and clear ..but i wanted to know if we have an car with the both of our names on it mine as the head is it possible to have the court remove my name from his loan or will the judge ask him to refinance ....and what if he can't I really want my name removed from his car to relieve me from any charges he might occur on the vehicle...what can i do?

You have a contract with the lender that you used to purchase or borrow against the car. A judge in a divorce case is not going to be able to change that.

You can surrender the vehicle to the lender and you each would be responsible for the deficiency owed after they resell it. You could sell the car to another person. Your husband could try to get the lender to extend credit in just his name. But, until one of those things happens, you remain liable for the debt on that car. Once divord\ced, you probably would not be liable for any tort claims, beyond the value of the car.
