To answer your question, if there is no response filed with the court after thirty days following service then you can obtain a default judgment. Many people mistakenly save themselves a modest amount of money up front by not hiring an attorney only to cost themselves a great deal of money in the long run due to not adequately protecting their legal rights at a time when various matters of extreme importance are determined by the court.
