Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
I was severed papers 4 months ago from my son's grandmother. She stated that I had abandon my son which was a lie and she wants child support and his social security check. My son mother died last October and had been the hospital for over a year. I had no knowledge of this information until eighteen days after her death and started to stay in touch with him more frequently. From October to January I was in contact with her and him sending money for Christmas 09. Later on finding out that she was letting 90 days go by to fill for abandonment. My son has lived with his mother his ( 2000 miles) apart watch has made it hard to keep good ties on him and his mother not allowing me contact if my wife was around during our conversation. What can I do to get full custody of my son. I have a lawery that is representing me but he's signing documents for me to pay child support now I'm appealing that judgment which is costing me more money. June 14, 2010 Ihad asked my Lawyer to withdraw from my case after $2500 and no help. What can I do about the false abondonment charges for personal gain and the Lawyer taking my money and not representing me and her Lawyer and mines worked at the same law firm. Please help!

If you hired an attorney to represent you in a contested case, who turned out to be empployed in the same firm as the attorney on the other side, you have a strange situation. That is something yoru attorney shoudl have revelaed to you. If he did not, then you need to contacdt the bar association where the case is being heard. i.e. the Missouri Bar. also you need to let the other side know as soon as you can, that ypour attorney did nto have authority to agree to support payments from you. Get anew attorney to represent you in teh custody battle.
