Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
My sister passed away recently. She had two small children by different fathers. Each father gave guardianship to different people while they are in prison. My sister was in the hospital getting morphine shots for a medical condition when she signed what she thought was a paper giving one of my nephew's great grandmother the authority to sign for medical treatment and school issues that may arise. My mother has joint guardianship of one of my nephews. When she went to get him from my other nephew's great grandmother, who is of no biological relation, she was told that she couldn't take him. What can we do to get him?

A guardian appointed by the Court take authority compared to one assigned later by a parent. It that is the case, your mother needs to take a copy of the Court alignment appointment and have a police officer escort her in getting the child. If they were both appointed by the Childs mother, one will have to take the other to Court.
