Does a son have any rights over nursing home bound father's wife?

A stepchild generally does not have the natural rights that blood relatives do. But, if there are no blood relatives available, the nursing home may year the stepson as a Son. If there is time, the Stepmother could appoint her Stepson to be her attorney in fact or healthcare proxy. She should consult directly with a probate or family law attorney soon.
