Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

my son went to visit his mother july 10 for her 3 weeks summer visitation and not returned. he was kept until he turned 17 and they told him he did not have to return because he is now an adult. apparently trying to pull a leagl fast one on me. should'nt this be contempt of court and someone be able to enforce his return? i have full legal and physical custody which was modified in my behalf in 2002 when she did not even appear in court. can they do this if the age of majority in missouri is 18? do they not have to return him to me in jefferson county where i now live according to my court ordered custody? this seems to be a gray area in missouri in which the local authorities will not enforce and noone seems to know the actual truth.

You may want to file a Motion for Contempt if she is refusing to follow the terms of an existing Court Order. Or, it may be possible to file a Family Access Motion. Or, it may even be possible to obtain a Writ of Habeas Corpus. You definitely need to hire an attorney and take action without delay.
