Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
My son's father has not been in his life for over four years now. My son is six and when his father was in his life it was for less than a month. He is a very abusive individual and i currently recieve no child support or anything from him. I live in the stat of Kansas and went to an attorney here, however she said I needed to go to missouri to find a lawyer because the stat of Missouri has jurisdiction because that is where paternity was established. I have given evidence to the state of Kansas regarding the reason i do not want child support and they feel that it would put me and my son in danger if his father knew where we were at. How do I go about getting his rights taken away???

If there is a man that Petition to adopt your Son, then it could trigger a Termination of Prental rights case. If you are judt trying to termiante the fther's rights because you don't want your Son to see or interact with him, then you could be found to be interfering with the father's realationship with his child. In some cases, this activity has been used to reverse custody. Therefore, you shoudl consult direclty with a missouri attorney, so that you don't accidently have your Son sent to live with his father, to whom you may have to pay support.
