Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

In the state of Missouri--a child is legally emancipated upon reaching the age of 18 years. Do I (parent) have any legal authority over, or legal obligation to that child (including housing or support) after that age of emancipation?

College tuitioon, housing, and book/lab fees can be assessed to a parent with a divorce. Otherwise there are few other direct obligations to support after age 18, except where the offspring is incapacitated or incompetent. However, for a person under the age of 21 to obtain financial support for college, they may have to show that their parents are unable to provide support.

Good luck
