can testimony from one trial be used in another trial?

In some cases, testimony from one trial can be read into teh record of another trial, or used to impeach testimonyh given by teh smae person in teh second trial. The circumstances dictate whether the attempt to enter such evidenced would survive a motion in limine befopre trial or an objection at trial.
