Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Uncontested divorce hearing

I live in Missouri and have filed for an uncontested divorce, which I didn't expect to have to go to court for. Why would there be a hearing, and what can I expect? Does my spouse, the respondent, have to appear? We aren't using lawyers.

Re: Uncontested divorce hearing

I congratulate you on handling your own dissolution of marriage without using an attorney. But, I think that you would be cheating yourself by obtaining free legal advice from attorneys on this site. If you really want to do this on your own, you should do so. I will warn you that either you or your spouse will someday be paying an attorney to try to fix things that should have been done correctly by an attorney in the first place. Good luck to you.
